What better way to spend an afternoon or evening than at the Club, sailing and relaxing on and around the water? Social Sailing is a friendly informal occasion that caters for everyone, allowing time to potter, try out new boats, and to practise skills with the added comfort of Safety Cover on designated days. Afterwards, or before, why not stay for a drink: tea, coffee, squash, or something a little stronger as the bar is open, or cook your tea on the BBQ, or make use of the galley?
We have groups which meet on different days of the week:
This group meets all year (weather permitting) and during the summer months there is a programmed duty for rescue. In the winter rescue is organised by those on the water. This isn’t a formal sailing group, but many club members attend for a short sail, to trim their boats or to take friends and family out. Why not come up to get a taste for this fabulous sporting activity and pastime suitable for all? You can read more about the beginners guide to Saturdays here. If you are on duty, you can find guidance here.
Tuesday and Thursday sailing group meets from 13:00 for a social sail from October to March and 13:00 during the official sailing season from April to September inclusive.
The format for sailing on a Wednesday afternoon is for informal racing and tuition. Everybody is welcome from novices to the expert and those who just want to do their own thing! Meet every Wednesday from 12.00 hrs, weather permitting, (15:00 between April & August) and why not stay for our Wednesday Nightcap Pursuit race between April and August and cook your tea on our BBQ? There is also a large kitchen available to members to cook in.
